Contract ‘Fill-in-the-Blank’ Feature

Task

ShootProof needed to add additional functionality to their contract feature for photographers to be able to collect information from their clients, without needing to send several emails and additional correspondence. On top of this, the feature needed to be able to support multiple parties filling in information, as well as being able to see the information that was filled by the previous party.

Solution

While most of the photographers utilize a desktop to create their contracts, as well as adjust settings in their ShootProof accounts, the majority of their end-clients would be using smartphones to fill in the information in the contracts, as well as sign them. To this end, I took an approach that would offer an experience that’s similar to DocuSign, Honeybook, and other features that offer the same functionality, but folded it into the existing contract creation experience on the photographer’s side, adding in a Preview function for them to see how the contract would appear to their clients. It was also necessary to include an additional confirmation modal, with clear messaging to the end-client that once one party finished the contract, the other could no longer make changes to it. This was due to the way in which the system assigns contacts to documents within ShootProof.
